How does HeyLead know a visit came from an AI assistant?

From the referrer and UTM tags on the visit. For example, ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to links, and Perplexity and Gemini pass their domain as the referrer. We keep our list of assistants up to date as they change.

Can I see what someone asked the AI?

No. AI assistants don't share the prompt with the website, so no tool can show it honestly. You see the assistant, the page they landed on and what they did next.

What about AI visits with no referrer?

Some apps open links without saying where they came from, so a small share of AI visits can still look like Direct. HeyLead counts every visit that carries an AI referrer or tag.
